Coral snake



Coral snake, slender poisonous snake (genus Micrurus) of the Western Hemisphere. Rings of black, yellow, or white and red cover its body. Two species are found in the southern U.S. states. Coral snakes feed on small reptiles and insects. In many parts of the world there are false coral snakes that have patterns of color similar to coral snakes but are harmless.
