Coral Sea



Coral Sea, part of the southwestern Pacific Ocean, between the northeast coast of Australia and the Solomon Islands. The sea floor is dominated by coral atolls and reefs, among them the Coral Sea Plateau, Osprey and Swain reefs, the Coral Sea Basin, and the Great Barrier Reef, which extends 1,200 mi (1,930 km) along the northeast Australian coast.
