Congressional Budget Office (CBO), agency of the U.S. Congress that provides information on the nation's economy, the federal budget, and federal programs to members of Congress. It prepares optional plans and studies their potential impact on the budget. It also prepares 5-year forecasts based upon existing federal policies of taxation and spending.
