Colombo

Colombo (pop. 615,000), capital, chief port, and largest city of Sri Lanka (Ceylon), located on the southwest coast of the island, in the Indian Ocean. The city's harbor, built in 1875 and modernized in the 1950s, is one of the world's largest. Tea, cinnamon, rubber, and coconut products are the chief exports.
