Colobus



Colobus, or guerza, genus of thumbless, long-tailed, African monkey of the family Cercopithecidae. The colobus is vegetarian, diurnal (active in the daytime), and lives in trees, though it may travel on the ground. Colobus species are divided by color and may be black and white, red, or olive. Young are white at birth. Colobus live in groups of 3 to 80. Some species are aggressively territorial.
