Cistercians



Cistercians, Roman Catholic monastic order. Monks and nuns of this order are often referred to as Trappists, after a 17th-century order of Cistercians in La Trappe, France. Their order is based on principles of prayer, manual work, and study. Its followers often lead secluded lives.
