Henry Gabriel Cisneros



Cisneros, Henry Gabriel (1947– ), first Hispanic mayor of a major U.S. city. Cisneros, a Democrat, was elected to 4 terms as mayor of San Antonio. Tex., (1981–89). Born in San Antonio, Cisneros earned degrees from Texas A&M, Harvard, an George Washington University. As mayor, he was credited with advancing economic development and lessening ethnic polarization. He is now employed in the private sector.
