Chesapeake Bay



Chesapeake Bay, large inlet of the Atlantic Ocean on the east coast of the United States, an important trade route for oceangoing vessels. About 200 mi (320 km) long and 30 mi (48 km) wide, the bay separates the Delmarva Peninsula from sections of Maryland and Virginia.
