Cerebral palsy



Cerebral palsy, diverse group of conditions caused by brain damage around the time of birth and resulting in a variable degree of nonprogressive physical and mental handicap. The condition is often accompanied by abnormalities of muscle control, loss of sensation, and some degree of deafness. Speech and intellectual development can also be impaired but may be entirely normal.
