Centrifuge



Centrifuge, machine for separating mixtures of different densities by rotating them in a container at high speed. The centrifugal force experienced in a rotating frame causes the heavier elements to sink. Centrifuges are used in drying clothes, in separating milk from cream, in chemical analysis, and in atomic isotope separation.
