Gaius Valerius Catullus



Catullus, Gaius Valerius (c.84–54 B.C.), Roman lyric poet influenced by Hellenistic Greek poetry. He wrote passionate lyrics, epigrams, elegies, idylls, and vicious satires, of which only 116 survive. He influenced the later Roman poets Horace and Martial.
