Don Carter



Carter, Don (1926– ), U.S. bowler. Voted the best bowler in history in a 1970 poll of bowling writers, he achieved the sport's first grand slam by winning the 4 major competitions of his day—the World Invitational All-Star, Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) National, and American Bowling Conference (ABC) Masters. He continued to win bowling championships throughout the 1950s and early 1960s. He was named to the ABC Hall of Fame in 1970 and to the PBA Hall of Fame in 1975. He was a founder and first president of the PBA.
