Carnelian

Carnelian, or cornelian, one of the chalcedony group of crystalline quartz forms. Carnelian is typically red, but is sometimes yellow or brown, the latter kind being the most precious and known as sard. Used in jewelry, the stones are often artificially colored by heating and dyeing with iron compounds.
