Caraway



Caraway (Carum carvi), biennial or perennial plant of the carrot family, the seed of which is used for flavoring medicinal purposes. The hollow, furrowed, angular, branched stem grows in the second year from a white, carrot-shaped root. The leaves are deeply incised, the small white or yellow flowers form a flat, round cluster, and the fruit is dark brown, oblong, flattened, and 2-seeded.
