Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo
Cabrillo, Juan Rodríguez (João Rodrigues Cabrilho; d. c.1543), Portuguese explorer in the service of Spain, best known for his discovery of California. In 1542 he explored the coastline from lower California northwards to San Diego Bay.
