Cabinda



Cabinda (pop. 163,000), city and district in Angola. This coastal district, separated from the rest of Angola by the Congo River and Zaire, produces large quantities of oil. The city is an important seaport. When Angola fought for independence from Portugal (1961–75), Cabinda fought unsuccessfully for its independence from Angola.
