Samuel Butler



Butler, Samuel (1835–1902), English novelist. He considered Darwinism too mechanistic and satirized it in Erewhon (1872), his version of utopia. His major work is The Way of All Flesh (1903), an autobiographical novel satirizing Victorian morality.
