Bunsen burner



Bunsen burner, gas burner consisting of a metal tube with a gas inlet and adjustable openings for air near the lower end. The air and the gas mix before ignition, producing an extremely hot and smokeless flame. Developed by the German chemist Robert Wilhelm Bunsen (1811–99), the Bunsen burner is used in scientific laboratories.
