Bugbane



Bugbane, any of several tall plants (genus Cimicifuga) of the buttercup family. They have broad leaves that divide into thin leaflets. Their small white flowers grow in branched clusters. Bugbanes are perennials that grow in mild climates. It was once thought that their unpleasant smell repelled bugs.
