Simon Bolivar Buckner



Buckner, Simon Bolivar (1823–1914), U.S. politician and Confederate general. Taken prisoner by General Grant, Buckner was released in a prisoner exchange and was commander of the District of Louisiana when the war ended. He then edited the Louisville Courier and served 1 term as governor of Kentucky (1887–91).
