Brownie



Brownie, in British folklore, small creature that lives with a household and helps with chores while a family sleeps. It looks like an ugly, shaggy man and usually dresses in a brown cloak. The brownie, who accepts no pay, may also cause mischief. The name is also used for the youngest group (6–8 years) of the Girl Scouts.
