Bromeliad

Bromeliad, large family of tropical plants, mostly native to the Americas, including the pineapple and epiphytes (air plants) such as Spanish moss. Most bromeliads have spike-shaped leaves that form a tight cluster, with flowers in the cluster or on spikes; the cup-shaped cluster holds water, allowing the plants to survive droughts.
