Donato Bramante



Bramante, Donato (1444–1514), Italian architect who developed the classical principles of High Renaissance architecture. In 1499, he moved from Milan to Rome, where his major designs included the Tempietto of S. Pietro in Montorio (1502) and the Belvedere Court at the Vatican (1505). His greatest project, the reconstruction of St. Peter's, was not realized.
