Bowerbird

Bowerbird, forest-dwelling bird (family Ptilonorhynchidae) native to Australia and New Guinea that builds “bowers” of sticks decorated with bones, shells, berries, and flowers. Males fight and court in the bowers; the birds mate in the bower, but nest in a nearby tree. The largest of these birds, the great or red-crested bowerbird, may grow 14 in (36 cm) long.
