James Boswell

Boswell, James (1740–95), Scottish writer and lawyer, most famous for his Life of Samuel Johnson (1791). In his journals he recorded his life and times with great zest. From them he culled the accounts of his travels in Corsica and elsewhere, and the brilliant conversations that distinguish the portrait of his friend Samuel Johnson.
