Born-again Christians

Born-again Christians, fundamentalist Christians who feel themselves regenerated through the experience of being “born again” (John 3:3). Related to the Calvinist doctrine of election, the experience today assumes a revivalist character. In the late 1970s, citing a decline in morality, Born-again Christians became active in U.S. politics through such organizations as the Moral Majority, led by Rev. Jerry Falwell.
