Boll weevil



Boll weevil (Anthonomus grandis), most damaging cotton pest in the United States. The beetle, 1/4 in (6 mm) long, lays eggs in cotton buds and fruit and feeds on the bolls and blossoms, causing estimated losses of $200 million a year.
