Bolero



Bolero, type of Spanish folk dance and the music that accompanies it. The bolero is performed in 3/4 time. It is often accompanied by castanets, guitars, and tambourines. Dancers perform solo or as couples. Bolero (1928), a 1-act ballet composed by Maurice Ravel, helped popularize the dance and musical form.
