Nicolas Boileau-Despréaux
Boileau-Despréaux, Nicolas (1636–1711), French poet, satirist, and critic. His insistence on classical standards, expressed in the didactic poem L'Art poétique (1674), influenced literary taste in France and England in the 18th century.
