Bluegrass

Bluegrass, traditional, instrumental country music, played on unamplified string instruments (banjo, fiddle, mandolin, and guitar). The style, highly improvisational with close harmonies, was developed in the late 1930s by Bill Monroe and his Blue Grass Boys and by the banjo player Earl Scruggs.
