Bluefish



Bluefish (Pomatomus saltatrix), voracious fish of the family Pomatomidae, found in the Atlantic and Indian oceans and the Mediterranean Sea. It can grow to a length of about 4 ft (1.22 m) and attain a weight up to 30 lb (13.6 kg), though it normally averages 30 in (.75 m) in length and 10–12 lb (4.5–5.5 kg) in weight. A popular game fish resembling the pompano and related to the sea bass, the bluefish is caught commercially for food.
