Ernest Bloch



Bloch, Ernest (1880–1959), Swiss-American classical composer. He was greatly influenced by traditional Jewish music, as evidenced in his symphonic poem Israel (1916), Sacred Service (1930–33), and Three Jewish Poems (1913). He also wrote concertos, chamber music, and suites for piano and strings.
