Betjeman, Sir John (1906–84), English poet laureate and architectural conservationist, often called a lyrical satirist. His works include New Bats in Old Belfries (1945), Selected Poems (1948), Collected Poems (1958), and Victorian and Edwardian Architecture in London (1969).
