Jack Benny

Benny, Jack (Benjamin Kubelsky; 1894–1974), U.S. comedian. Benny was known for his radio and television routines about the hilarious experiences of a miserly man. He was 17 when he made his show business debut playing violin in vaudeville shows. More than 20 films and an 18-year radio career followed. In 1950, Benny made his first television appearance using the themes that made him famous—stinginess, condemning quiet stares, and his violin playing.
