Belladonna



Belladonna, or deadly nightshade (Atropa belladonna), poisonous herbaceous plant of the nightshade family whose dried leaves and roots produce a crude drug of the same name. Various medicinal alkaloids, such as the muscle relaxant atropine, are produced by refining belladonna.
