Basket making

Basket making, popular handicraft dating back to prehistoric times. It uses flexible materials to make utensils, primarily for the preparation, transportation, or storage of food. Two kinds of material are used to make baskets: hard material including grasses, leaves, and wood, and soft material including cotton, wool, and jute fiber. Two different strands are woven together to produce the basket: the warp strand runs vertically, the weft horizontally.
