Mount Etna



Mount Etna, active volcano on the eastern coast of Sicily. Its height is about 11,000 ft (3,352 m) and its base is approximately 100 mi (160 km) in circumference. It has erupted over 250 times since its first recorded eruption in 700 B.C., some of which have been extremely destructive to nearby inhabitants.
