Clement Clarke Moore



Moore, Clement Clarke (1779–1863), U.S. educator and poet. He wrote the popular Christmas poem “A Visit from St. Nicholas,” which begins “'Twas the night before Christmas” (1823), and for 29 years was a professor of Oriental and Greek literature at New York City's General Theological Seminary.
