Measles

Measles, common infectious disease usually seen in children and caused by a virus. It involves a characteristic sequence of fever, headache, and malaise, followed by conjunctivitis and rhinitis, and the development of a typical rash, with blotchy erythema (redness) affecting the skin of the face, trunk, and limbs. Complications can include pneumonia and encephalitis. Vaccination confers temporary immunity; one attack confers lifelong immunity.
