Mayo Clinic



Mayo Clinic, one of the world's largest medical centers. It was founded in 1889 at Rochester, Minn., as a voluntary association of physicians. It grew from an emergency hospital set up by Dr. William W. Mayo (1861–1939) to help cyclone victims. The Clinic treats about 175,000 patients a year and is financed by the Mayo Foundation.
