Don Mattingly



Mattingly, Don (Donald Arthur Mattingly; 1961– ), U.S. baseball player. As first baseman for the New York Yankees, American League (AL), he distinguished himself as a batter and fielder. He was named AL Most Valuable Player in 1985, and batted over .300 for 6 consecutive seasons (1984–9). In 1991 Mattingly became the tenth captain in New York Yankees history.
