Andrew Marvell



Marvell, Andrew (1621–1678), English metaphysical poet. Assistant to John Milton from 1657, Marvell was also a member of Parliament from 1659. A Puritan, he was known as a wit and satirist, but is best remembered today for his lyric poetry, including such works as “To His Coy Mistress” and “The Garden.”
