Peter Martins



Martins, Peter (1946– ), Danish dancer. He danced with the Royal Danish Ballet 1964–67, then joined the New York City Ballet, where he became a leading male dancer in such works by George Balanchine as Violin Concerto and Duo Concertant (both 1972). In 1983, following Balanchine's death, he became ballet master-in-chief (with Jerome Robbins).
