Martial



Martial (Marcus Valerius Martialis;c.A.D. 40–104), Spanish-born Latin poet. He lived in Rome 64–98 and was favored by emperors Titus and Domitian. Martial wrote 15 books of epigrams famous for their wit and their unusual poetic meter.
