Marmot

Marmot, large round squirrel (genus Marmota) found in much of the Northern Hemisphere. Marmots dig burrows, where they hibernate in winter, and live in colonies. Most live in hill country, although the woodchuck, or groundhog (M. monox), prefers open areas. Marmots grow from 1–2 ft (30–61 cm) long.
