Manchester



Manchester (pop. 90,936), city in southern New Hampshire, on the Merrimack River, settled in 1722. Development of its major 19th-century textile industry was aided by water power from the Amoskeag Falls; today's manufactures include shoes, machinery, electronics, and auto parts.
