Long Island Sound
Long Island Sound, arm of the Atlantic Ocean separating the state of Connecticut from Long Island. About 110 mi (177 km) long and 20 mi (32 km) wide at most points, Long Island Sound is part of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway.
