Livy

Livy (Titus Livius; c.59 B.C.A.D. 17), Roman historian. Of his 142-volume History of Rome, 35 books survive, with fragments and an outline of the rest. It traces the city from its founding in 753 B.C. to the end of the reign of Nero Drusus in 9 B.C. Although Livy is not always accurate, he is admired for his style and for his effort to view the development of the empire historically.
