Jacques Lipchitz



Lipchitz, Jacques (1891–1973), Lithuanian-born French sculptor whose early works consisted of spaces and volumes in a cubist style. Beginning in 1925 he produced a series called “transparents,” which, as in the Harpist (1928), emphasized contour. His later work was more romantic and metaphorical.
