Lily

Lily, common name for plants of the family Liliaceae, which have prominent flowers and grasslike leaves. True lilies have 3 showy sepals and petals and 6 stamens, and generally grow from bulbs. The best known varieties are the Madonna lily (Lilium candidum) and white-trumpet lily (L. Longiflorum), which flower in the spring and are seen at Easter. Many wild lilies flower only once in several years.
